How can I help you with your editing project?
As a lifelong reader and writer and with a B.A. in journalism, I've worked with words professionally my entire career--writing and editing articles, features, essays, columns, news stories, speeches, book copy, newsletter articles, blogs, bios, press releases, histories, and writing my novel of course. Editing was a natural by-product!
Stuff happens. Typos happen to all of us. I've spotted them everywhere. On signs. Once on a book cover! I've seen them on national TV headlines and crawls, and even in well-known, excellent newspapers. Once, on a site for a publishing company, I spotted a huge typo in a headline! Where have you seen them?
Don't you hate when editorial budgets get slashed? Everyone loses this way, especially readers.
While software programs can edit spelling, grammar, and punctuation, they don't catch if you've used a word twice. They're also not looking at the bigger picture of the story. And can a computer feel? How can it tell the writer they're missing the mark emotionally? That they failed to move the reader or make sense? Because that's what I'm giving you in addition to my copyediting eyes. That's why you need a reader.
With a journalism degree and as a former editor of an employee publication, writer for magazines, newspapers, and media outlets, and as an editor of book and article projects and a beta reader for other writers, my rates are in line with other professionals. I've earned an additional certification in copyediting from a three-month Writer's Digest course. I'm also a member of Editorial Freelancers Association and a member of Womens Fiction Writers Association.
I am the founder of Lake Overlook Press, LLC. I charge hourly or per project rates. Send a message to inquire first, describing the scope of your need, and if fiction, include the genre; do not send the document. Attachments will not be opened. If I provide a quote and you hire me, then a 10% deposit is required to schedule the work, and when the work begins, 40% is due. Thanks for your professional courtesy!
If you'd like a quote on your project, send me a message today!
